Description
This workshop will provide an overview of the Communities Respond model which is an interactive, practical based, multiphase community education program designed to support and enable the development of community resilience including the enhanced capacity and practical skills required to provide self help and offer mutual aid in response to an emergency.
 
Speaker Bio

Jennifer McMahon has a background in Emergency Management, Critical Incident Stress Management, Crisis Response, Trauma Counselling and Community Education.
She has worked across all spectrums of community development within an Emergency Management framework particularly in relation to community education programs with a focus on community engagement and capacity building. She has been involved in the design, development and implementation of many innovative community focussed education programs.

Co-Speaker Bio

Malcolm Hedley has spent the past 30 years in Emergency Management and allied fields. He has worked with Government Agencies, Community Groups, Emergency Services and NGO's in many countries in advisory, management and field roles, covering areas as diverse as logistics, communications, security, community development and policy implementation. He is currently a Community Education and Emergency Management consultant in Australia.
