This session will provide emergency managers with a fundamental understanding of the logistical, clinical and administrative issues and potential pitfalls involved in launching these essential components of the disaster response infrastructure
 
Speaker Bio
K.C. Rondello, M.D. M.P.H. serves as Assistant Professor of Emergency Management at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, where he co-developed Long Island’s first graduate program in Emergency Management. Prior to coming to Adelphi, he was the Associate Director of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System’s Center for Healthcare Preparedness, an institute established to further education and research in the field of healthcare disaster readiness.

In December 2002, Dr. Rondello was appointed Chief Epidemiologist of the National Disaster Medical System’s NY-2 Disaster Medical Assistance Team, tasked with providing critical emergency medical support to regions of the country overwhelmed by disaster.

Dr. Rondello’s scholarly research focuses on the application of disaster epidemiology to pandemic planning and response, and the establishment and management of alternate care facilities and points of distribution. Dr. Rondello trained at Yale University School of Medicine in the United States and Saint George’s Medical School in the United Kingdom.
