Description
The latest initiative in Brampton’s vast panoply of emergency management programs and tools is called the Business Emergency Network. This project initiated jointly by the city and York University aims at creating a more resilient business community with a network of business continuity resources for small and medium-sized businesses.
 
Speaker Bio
Alain Normand directed relief efforts during the Saguenay floods, the Ontario/Quebec Ice Storm and other emergencies in various parts of Canada. Now residing in Brampton, he is the Municipal Emergency Manager. Past President of OAEM, he teaches emergency management and business continuity part-time at York University and Sheridan College. He is the author of two novels: “The Return of the Spanish Lady” on Influenza Pandemic and “The Curse of El Niño” on Global Warming.
Co-Speaker Bio
Benjamin Pantin is a Masters student in Disaster Emergency Management at York University and responsible for the development of the Business Emergency Network for Brampton. He is also the founding President of the Disaster Emergency Management Student Association (DEMSA) regrouping emergency management and business continuity students from universities and colleges in Ontario. He also spearheads initiatives geared towards providing work experience for university and college students in this field.
