Description
How people and communities are affected by disasters is crucial to developing effective recovery strategies and building resilience in either organizational or community contexts. Recovery programs need to reflect what people have experienced and continue to experience if they are to assist in restoring a sense of well being.
 
Speaker Bio

Michael Tarrant has worked in the disaster management field for the past 20 years. He manages the EMA research portfolio and his main areas of interest include managing non routine risk, disaster recovery, business continuity, resilience, simulations and public administration.

He has presented and run workshops in Thailand, Japan, Sweden, Philippines, Tunisia, England, Canada and the US. He has worked at a national level on the development of EM publications and has been a member of Standards Australia Risk Management Committee (OB-007) since 1998.
