On 20 March 2006 Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Larry crossed the coast near Innisfail in Far North Queensland (Australia) – the presentation will detail the response of the Queensland Health system, both from its role within the Queensland Government Emergency Management system and the specific health system challenges at the time.
 
Speaker Bio
Alex McGill is currently the State Coordinator – Disaster/Emergency Exercises for Queensland Health. Alex is responsible for facilitating and coordinating disaster management exercises and training throughout the State ensuring hospitals have the appropriate levels of preparedness, resilience and responsiveness to ensure continuity of health services in the event of a disaster. Previously he has been involved in major national and state projects both in Australia and the United Kingdom with respect to best practice management systems, information security and education. Alex has also been on various Australian Standards Technical committees.
