Description
In 2002 the City of Edmonton completely redesigned its Emergency Program. This presentation will describe how the City applied a systems approach to the development of its Emergency Program, focussing on the systems of Planning, Training, Managing and Coordination and related sub-systems and the lessons learned in the process.
 
Speaker Bio
Bob Black served with the Canadian Army from 1970-2002. He served in Canada, Germany, Cyprus and Bosnia, and participated in emergency operations in Vancouver, Winnipeg, the Kananaskis Valley and on the West Coast of British Columbia (BC). His last four years were spent coordinating military support to civilian emergency operations in BC and Western Canada. Upon his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 2002 he joined the City of Edmonton as Director, Office of Emergency Preparedness

Bob is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a BA in Political Studies. He is the Vice-President (West) of the Canadian Region of the International Association of Emergency Managers, co-chair of the Public Safety and Security Advisory Committee to the national Geoconnections program and a member of the scientific advisory board for the 1st International WaterSide Security Conference, Copenhagen, August 2008.
