Description
Highly resilient organizations have a number of common characteristics. What are they and how do you develop them. This session looks at the results from Australia's work bringing together research and case studies from around the world on business resilience. This session targets experienced professionals in business continuity and emergency management.
 
Speaker Bio
David is the Manager Business Resilience at Sydney Water Corporation. Within this portfolio David is responsible for Physical Security, Business Continuity Management and Emergency Management. Prior to commencing at Sydney Water, David served as the District Emergency Management Officer for Central West NSW where he was awarded a Ministerial commendation for his efforts.

Following September 11 David established the Water Services Infrastructure Assurance Advisory Group within the Australian Government’s Trusted Information Sharing Network. He has held the position of chair since inception and is a member of the national Critical Infrastructure Advisory Council. David is also the chair of the National Resiliency Community of Interest.

David holds a number of advisory positions including Advisory Board Member to the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness and editorial committees of the Australian and Canadian Journals of Emergency Management.

For the past thirty years David has been an active member of the Blue Mountains State Emergency Service. David is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Emergency Services, a Board Member of the International Association of Emergency Management (Oceania Region) and member of both the Disaster Recovery Institute and Business Continuity Institute.
